The 9th Annual Winter Gala Raising Funds for Developing Faces Posted on 29 Mar 11:11 , 1 comment

The Ninth Annual Winter Gala, hosted by the NJ Craniofacial Center, was held at the Park Savoy Estate on March 19th, 2019. Over 200 guests attended the event, which included a cocktail hour, tricky trays, a silent auction, and a seated dinner. The funds raised will go towards several surgical nonprofits, with the majority going towards Developing Faces. Developing Faces is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides high quality surgical care to children and babies with facial abnormalities living in developing countries around the world.

The funds raised will go towards the next Developing Faces surgical mission, which has a pending date of January 2020. The last Developing Faces mission was to Guatemala City in August 2018. Led by Dr. Paul Rosenberg, the surgical team from New York and New Jersey consisted of Board Certified plastic surgeons, registered nurses and nurse practitioners, along with a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. The surgical team spent a week at Hospital Angelós, where they completed over forty successful surgeries. The team focused mostly on cleft lip and cleft palate repairs, but also included several other surgeries such ear reconstructions and microsurgical free flaps.
During the 2018 mission to Guatemala, existing patients from the previous Developing Faces surgical mission to Guatemala were followed up with. Some patients received necessary additional surgeries, which are typically needed in cleft lip and palate patients.
While the surgical missions are the reason Developing Faces exists, events like the Ninth Annual Winter Gala make the missions possible. The Gala was a fabulous way to get people involved. A heartfelt thank-you goes to everyone at the NJ Craniofacial Center for including Developing Faces in this incredible event!
